Uncompromising Quality

Since first opening its doors in 1993, Accurate Electric has experienced major growth. Beginning as a single entrepreneur operation, the company currently boasts a team of 50 staff.

Accurate Electric works across the industrial, commercial, and design build construction sectors. Based in Timmins, Ont., the company is ideally situated for work in the mining and lumber sectors. Best described as customer driven, Accurate Electric tailors its impressive array of services toward each individual client, meaning that when working alongside Accurate Electric, your needs and expectations are not only met, but exceeded.

The company website summarizes, “The Accurate Electric project management team is always focused on getting the job done right the first time, every time. We enjoy the challenges of the construction and industrial workplace, while our reward is a job well done and a happy, loyal customer.”

It is this commitment to customer focus that has driven the organization on the path of success through its 20-year history.

Projects

Always active, Accurate Electric’s impressive project portfolio spanning numerous sectors has only continued to grow over the years. The company highlights some of its most recent work, particularly its involvement in the mining sector.

Accurate Electric was involved with the Detour Lake Project, a property of Detour Gold Corporation situated in Cochrane, Ont., a community north of Timmins.

The Detour Lake Project saw its first gold production last month, and the expectation is that the first ore will be fed through the mill circuit in 2013. As the Detour Lake Project is situated in a remote location, Accurate Electric’s work involved running power to the property accommodations.

Mark Shewen, President of Accurate Electric, spoke with The Canadian Business Journal about his company’s involvement within the mining sector. “Northern Ontario is prospering. The mining industry in Northern Ontario has really helped us out, so we have worked to adapt ourselves to the industry and to learn more about it.”

Another project within the mining sector, a design/build development with North Gate Minerals, a gold mine situated in Matachewan, Ont., saw Accurate Electric involved in a process building lighting, truck shop and warehouse building.

Aside from industrial projects, Accurate Electric has also been recently involved in the commercial sector, including three modernization projects at OPP stations across Northern Ontario in South Porcupine, Kapukasing, and Iroquois Falls. The projects involved security work, data communications, and new electrical construction.

Another commercial project included security and new electrical construction within the expansion of the Timmins and District Hospital. Shewen commented on Accurate Electric’s range of projects, “We are pretty diversified; we are not held to one sector of electrical. We are unique in that we do a little bit of everything.

The more challenging and difficult the job, the more we are interested.”

Through its history, Accurate Electric has built its trusted reputation on high quality of work and customer dedication, both of which continue to build the company’s repeat client base.

Shewen concluded, “We’ve never had a balance sheet approach. Our goal has always been to keep our employees busy. We’re working when our employees work, and that’s how we’ve always worked.”
