Driverless Shuttle Bus Launches in Calgary

ELA

CBJ — A driver-less shuttle bus connecting the Calgary Zoo and Telus Spark has been launched in Alberta’s largest city.

Known as ELA — which stands for Electric Automation– the shuttles are capable of transporting up to 12 people between the two locations a top speed of 12 km/h on designated lanes closed to other vehicle traffic and pedestrians.

The vehicle is being billed as the first electric autonomous public shuttle in the country.

After the Calgary pilot project ends on September 30, ELA will be moved to Edmonton for further testing.
