His Sessions As A.G. is Over

Jeff Sessions - Govt

CBJ — U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions has resigned as the country’s chief law enforcement officer after being asked to step down by President Donald Trump.

Apparently Trump was annoyed by his handling of the Russian probe, among other things.

“At your request, I am submitting my resignation,” Sessions wrote in an undated letter to the president.

President Trump announced in a tweet that Sessions’s chief of staff Matt Whitaker would become the new acting attorney general.

The attorney general had endured more than a year of stinging criticism from Trump. The president also blamed Sessions for what ultimately led to the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller to look into the Russia investigation and possible meddling with the U.S. election.
