Air Canada Cutting Flights to Rio
CBJ — Air Canada is cutting service to Rio de Janeiro starting this fall due to an expected large drop-off in demand following the Olympic Games and current economic environment in Brazil.
Starting in October the Montreal-based air carrier will stop offering its three flights a week from Pearson airport in Toronto to Rio’s Galeao’s airport. The service only started a little more than two years ago.
The airline has no plans to cancel its daily flight offering to the other Brazilian city of Sao Paulo. Air Canada passengers can still get to Rio via Air Canada codeshare partners such as Avianca and GOL.
