Audi Cutting 7,500 Net Jobs
CBJ — German carmaker Audi is cutting 9,500 jobs over the next five years as a part of a plan to make the company more sustainable as automobiles move into electric and autonomous.
Audi, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, has been lagging behind its other high-end German carmakers BMW and Daimler.
As the company moves towards electric and autonomous technologies, 2,500 new people will be added, resulting in a net loss of 7,500 jobs by 2025.
Audi currently employs about 90,000 workers worldwide.
