Boeing 737 Max Amendments
CBJ — Airplane maker Boeing has nearly completed the development of a software upgrade and a revision of pilot training for its 737 MAX, the plane that has suffered two fatal crashes in the last five months.
The software updates are intended to address how the aircraft’s flight control system responds to erroneous sensor inputs.
A 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed shortly after take-off on March 10, killing all 157 on board.
Ethiopian officials say the crash had “clear similarities” with a Lion Air crash in Indonesia in October of last year.
Most countries’ aviation authorities, including Canada, has grounded the airline pending the results of safety investigations.
The grounding caused chaos for both Air Canada and WestJet and a number of people who were away on March Break. The airlines are using other planes in the fleet to reschedule flights.
