Former Nissan Chair Indicted

Carlos Ghosn - Nissan

CBJ — Nissan’s former chairman and CEO Carlos Ghosn has been indicted by prosecutors in Tokyo for allegedly violating financial laws by under-reporting income.

The charges allege the 64-year-old Ghosn’s compensation was undercut by about $44 million between 2011 and 2015.

The arrest of an automotive icon such as Ghosn has stunned many within the industry and has raised concerns over the Japanese automaker and the future of its alliance with Renault of France.

Charges have also been levelled against Greg Kelly, 62, an American who is suspected of having collaborated with Ghosn.
