Janet Zuccarini Honoured with ‘RBC Award of Excellence in Entrepreneurship’

TORONTO, ON–(Marketwired – Nov 28, 2017) –  In an evening dedicated to recognizing extraordinary achievements, Women of Influence gathered together from across the country for the annual RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards held at the iconic Fairmont Royal York.

An independent panel of judges comprised of Canada’s top business leaders participated in the selection process that garnered more than 6400 applications. After rigorous review, the highly reputable RBC Award of Excellence was announced.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards is the nation’s leading business award program in recognizing the country’s top female entrepreneurs. Award categories included the RBC Momentum Award, the Social Change Award, and the Telus Trailblazer Award.

The evening culminated in the final award of the night, proudly accepted by Toronto restaurateur and Chief Executive Officer of Gusto 54 Restaurant Group, Janet Zuccarini, who was presented with the TEC Award for Excellence in Entrepreneurship.

Janet opened her first restaurant, Café Nervosa, in 1996 which was later renamed Trattoria Nervosa and today stands as a beloved Yorkville landmark. Today, Gusto 54 is comprised of some of Toronto’s most celebrated dining destinations including Trattoria Nervosa and Gusto 101, as well as Pai Northern Thai Kitchen, Same Same, and Kiin in partnership with Jeff and Nuit Regular. In addition to these properties, the group is also awaiting the highly anticipated launches of Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen and Gusto 501. Outside of Canada, Gusto 54 has made its mark in Los Angeles with its restaurant, Felix Trattoria, which was recently recognized by Esquire Magazine as the #1 Best Restaurant in America.

The RBC Award of Excellence celebrates entrepreneurial excellence by recognizing those whose ingenuity, spirit of innovation, and discipline have propelled their respective companies to huge success and have positively impacted their industries and communities.

Janet will also be recognized as the recipient of the “Independent Restaurateur of the Year” award at the highly anticipated Pinnacle Awards taking place on December 1st, 2017. The Pinnacle Awards started in 1988 and today is the hospitality industry’s only national recognition program.
