Loblaws Jobs Lost to Automation

CBJ — Loblaws is switching to a new automation system that will result in 800 people losing their jobs at distribution centres in Ontario and Quebec.

About 550 employees in Quebec and another 250 in Ottawa are being put out of work.

Loblaw Companies says the automated centre will also serve its subsidiary Shoppers Drug Mart, or Pharmaprix, in Ontario and Quebec.
