Manufacturing Sales Down in April

CBJ — Manufacturing sales dropped 0.6% in April to $57.8 billion with sales in the in the transportation equipment and primary metal industries declining the most.
The April monthly decline followed a 2.6% increase the previous month according to figures released by Statistics Canada.
Sales were down in eight of 21 industries, representing 36% of total Canadian manufacturing.
Excluding transportation equipment, which fell 6.7%, overall manufacturing sales rose 0.8%.
Sales volumes were off 0.8%.
