National Leader in Opioid Addiction Treatment Opens in Indianapolis to Combat Massive Overdose Mortality and Strain on Economy
INDIANAPOLIS, IN–(Marketwired – January 03, 2018) – CleanSlate Centers, a national leader in outpatient medication-assisted treatment for opioid and alcohol addiction, today announced the opening of two new centers in Indianapolis, Indiana to combat the vicious cycle of opioid addiction and death from overdose that is devastating the city and taking a toll on the state’s economy. The new office-based treatment centers are located at 9660 E. Washington Street and 1725 N. Meridian Street, Suite 300, in Indianapolis. Both began seeing patients last week.
Indiana is one of four states that have seen fatal drug overdoses quadruple since 1999. With more than 1 in 20 Indiana residents reporting non-medical use of prescription opioids, the public health crisis created by the opioid epidemic has also become an economic crisis for the state. The situation has become so desperate that employers struggle to fill job positions because not enough applicants can pass a drug test. Foster care and child welfare systems are strained to the limit because of the growing number of parents who are addicted, incarcerated or dead.1
“Indiana leaders report that opioid addiction is the single most important crisis facing the state,” said Gregory Marotta, President and CEO of CleanSlate Centers. “CleanSlate has responded to this crisis by launching two centers today in Indianapolis to provide much needed access to proven medication-assisted treatment that saves lives.”
More than 40 overdoses occurred in a three-day period across Indianapolis in April 2016 prompting stepped up law enforcement targeting drug dealers.2 The city has filed a lawsuit against opioid manufacturers and distributors.3 Governor Eric Holcomb has stated that the opioid epidemic is threatening goals for the state’s future success and impeding development of a diverse, vibrant economy and better-prepared workforce.4
“CleanSlate is committed to serving the communities hardest hit by the opioid crisis,” said Nasser Hajaig, M.D., Western Division Medical Director for CleanSlate. “We work in partnership with community leaders, public health officials and social service agencies to get people the treatment they need and deserve to overcome the deadly cycle of addiction.” CleanSlate’s other Indiana offices are located in Anderson, Bloomington, Elkhart, Fort Wayne, and Merrillville.
CleanSlate is making a big difference in the battle against the epidemic of addiction, treating 26,000 patients and counting, saving one valued life at a time. Now with seven centers across Indiana, CleanSlate’s program of care — which includes appropriate medication-assisted treatment prescribed by trained medical providers, with clear accountability and supportive counseling — sets the group apart from other treatment models.
