OMERS-Backed Venture Looks to Raise $50M for Blockchain
CBJ — Ethereum Capital, which has the backing of OMERS, is looking to raise $50 million for its blockchain enterprises.
Ethereum Capital wants to become the central business and investment hub for the Ethereum ecosystem, which underpins a wide variety of blockchain-based startups.
The company says it plans to both acquire ether, a type of crypto-asset that helps run the Ethereum platform, and controlling stakes in Ethereum-based businesses.
Ethereum Capital’s board of directors includes leadership from OMERS, Purpose Investments, Citizen Hex and L4 Ventures.
