CBJ — Figures released by Statistics Canada reveal the country’s retail sales posted a 4.8% gain in February to just more than $55 billion.

An increase in automobile sales and retail clothing helped push the number higher.

Preliminary estimates by the government agency estimate a 2.3% increase for March, although preliminary figures are most often revised once all data is collected.
