ScotiaBank Profit Hits $2.33 Billion


CBJ — Bank of Nova Scotia is reporting a 1st-quarter profit of $2.33 billion.

Canada’s second-largest bank — behind only RBC — said its profit amounted to $1.84 per diluted share for the quarter ended January 31, an increase from a profit of $1.71 per diluted share during the same quarter a year ago.Revenue grew to total $8.14 billion in the quarter from $7.60 billion a year ago.

Provisions for credit losses in the quarter totalled $926 million, up from $688 million in the same quarter last year.
