Shaw Making Service Changes

CBJ – Shaw Communications is eliminating 1,600 jobs in their current locations as it consolidates customer-service centres in fewer cities.
Workers at the Internet and cable company’s call centers in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna, British Columbia have been given three options: relocate to one of the other centres; apply for another job at their current location; or leave the company and take a severance package.
Shaw is increasing the presence of its customer-care work in call centres in Victoria, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Montreal.
In a 2013 survey by J.D. Power & Associates, Shaw ranked second-worst for customer satisfaction among five TV operators in Western Canada and it came in last among Internet providers.
The changes affect about more than 10% of the Calgary-based company’s 14,000 employees.
