Stanpro Lighting Systems

Founded in 1997, Stanpro Lighting Systems is a leading manufacturer of an extensive range of lighting products, including emergency lighting, LED, fluorescent, tracking lighting, and photoluminescents. In 2000, the company expanded its product range to become a full line lighting manufacturer.

Sam Rimoin, President of Stanpro Lighting Systems, has guided Stanpro Lighting Systems through its steady business growth. This month, Rimoin spoke with The Canadian Business Journal about the company’s expansion, its successes over the years, and its plans for the future.

In the beginning, Stanpro had a team of 12 employees and a 5,000 square foot manufacturing facility based in Toronto. A year later, the company finalized its complete high intensity discharge (HID) line, launching the company forward with a significant entrance into major product lines, such as down lighting, track lighting, architectural lighting, suspended lighting, fluorescent, and LED, led by a team of top industry professionals. The company then consolidated its entire manufacturing and engineering operations at its Montreal-based headquarters.

“We put a heavy focus on expanding our horizons to national accounts and architectural segments, and we are now heavily involved in the Canadian design-build and specifications markets,” Rimoin explained. “Today, we have about 120 employees with factory direct representatives in Montreal, Toronto, and Atlantic Canada. In 2006, we moved into our current facility and this August we’re moving into our new 150,000 square foot facility.”

Product Breadth

Stanpro Lighting Systems attributes the success of the company to the passion of its team. Its close-knit, team environment fosters entrepreneurialism and motivates the team to continually advance innovation and creative customer solutions.

“Everybody that we hire comes with a passion to not only make this company work, but to build a career for themselves in an atmosphere where they have a lot of say and where they are empowered to do their job. Our team is encourages to take the strategic gambles to grow the company the way we all see fit, so it’s a different mentality,” Rimoin summarized. “We work as a team, and we’re always looking to the next family of products to grow with us as we expand our categories. We’ve diversified tremendously over the last six years, launching more new products in any given year than any other Canadian company in our industry.”

Aside from its extensive product lineup, Stanpro

Lighting Systems points to its commitment to customer service as a key reason why consumers and businesses continue to return. Stanpro Lighting Systems provides an exceptional level of customer service that draws customers and, as a result, grows the company as a whole.

“We’re an addictive company where customers continue to come back,” beamed Jeff Beare, Vice-President of Marketing with Stanpro Lighting Systems. “Often our customer base is so impressed with one product segment that they will then give us a try in another category.”

Global Economy

As Stanpro Lighting Systems has grown, so too has the industry as a whole. As a result, Stanpro Lighting Systems recognizes the importance of embracing the industry from a global economic perspective and how this impact plays a major role in the company’s ability to always provide exceptional products and service.

More and more, Stanpro Lightning Systems has expanded its worldwide distribution base. In fact, the company has a designated team which travels to the Asian markets three times per year, as well as once to Europe, in search of new streams to develop and expand its product offering. To date, Stanpro Lightning Systems has established critical product partnerships in several supply chain points around the world, including China, Taiwan, Poland, Italy, and Brazil.

Moving forward, Stanpro Lightning Systems will continue to seek new product categories to enhance its offering to its loyal customer base. A primary focus is to grow the company’s involvement and expertise in the LED lighting market, particularly in offering a higher quality LED product to the market compared to what its industry competitors have historically provided.

“A lot of companies right now that do LED are just doing buy and sell, whereas we continue to be the flexible company that assembles our product locally and services the Canadian market,” summarized Robert Nadler, Executive Vice-President with Stanpro Lighting Systems. “We’re making sure that our products are of the highest quality and we’re ensuring that we keep our flexibility. We love our customers and we will bend over backwards to satisfy them.”

Stanpro Lighting Systems modestly recognizes that its success, particularly as a newer organization within the industry, and its strength across the lighting sector has been built on its strong product offering and its dedication to providing the best in products to its repeat customer base.
