Telus Apologizes For Carbon Tweet

CBJ — Telecom giant Telus issued a quick apology after facing a huge public backlash and threats of subscriber cancellations after it sent a tweet that appeared to support Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s carbon price plan.

In a followup tweet the company stated: “Our carbon pricing tweet late yesterday was not meant to be partisan or political, but we know it appeared that way, and we’re sorry.”

Telus’ tweet about carbon pricing sparked a flurry of reaction on social media, with some customers threatening to cancel their contracts in favour of signing up with the company’s competitors, including Rogers and Shaw.
