Tesla Model 3 Ready to Go
CBJ — The much-anticipated public launch of Tesla’s Chinese-made Model 3 sedans will be available as of January 7.
The vehicles were manufactured at a plant in Shanghai. Tesla opened the plant there in the hopes of cashing in on sales in the world’s most populous nation. The fact the plant is right in China also minimizes problems with tariffs due to the ongoing trade dispute between China and the U.S.
A handful of Tesla employees were the first to take delivery on Monday after the first China-made vehicles rolled off the plant’s production line in October.
The deliveries come a year after construction of Tesla’s only plant outside the United States began. Production started in October with a target of 250,000 vehicles per year once the Model Y is added to the line up.
