TransCanada Ups Stake in Bruce Power
CBJ — TransCanada Corp has raised its stake in Bruce nuclear power plant in Ontario to 48.5% for $236-million. The Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) also holds 48.5% interest in the plant and the Power Workers’ Union holds the rest.
The Calgary-based North American energy giant is the second-largest pipeline operator in Canada, but was dealt a huge blow recently when the U.S. government said no to the development of the Keystone XL pipeline project.
TransCanada also owns, or has interests in, almost 12,000 megawatts of power generation.
